PMT WONDERHERB AND A FEW OTHER AMAZING HERBS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT- Agnus Castus, Lavender and Thyme

There are loads of amazing herbs out there and there are probably whole books dedicated to them so I am just going to mention a few that I particularly love..

Introducing…

VITEX AGNUS CASTUS. AKA PMT WONDERHERB

Also known as Chaste Tree is a Fruit Tree. The berries are used to make a herbal remedy available in tablets to take to help with symptoms of PMT. I have taken this and it really works.

Previously I hated the world for 2 weeks of the month and these bad boys really changed my life.

It’s also recently been given a new license by the MHRA, the body which regulates medicines in the UK, confirming its suitability for the specific treatment of PMS in women. You can’t take it if you are pregnant of breastfeeding and hormone balancing-wise apparently, it only works for women who may have too much estrogen rather than progesterone

I have no idea how you find that out.. I just heard it works and bought some and it did! You have to take it every day and it really starts to work after a couple of months.

THE HUMBLE THYME AND LAVENDER

In a recent credible study, the antibacterial activity of Lavender and Tyme oils was tested against strains of common bacteria Staphylococcus,(MRSA) Enterococcus, Escherichia and Pseudomonas. (dunno what the last lot are but they sound yucky)

Here is the link to the study http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22313307

Thyme oil ‘ exhibited extremely strong activity against all of the clinical strains’ Some which have become antibiotic resistant.

Thyme oil is really good for an expectorant and great for helping to break up mucus and congestion. Making it easier to clear.   Rub it on your rack and back and your away!

Lavender wasn’t soo super impressive against those particular strains of bacteria  but still showed signs of antibacterial qualities.  A drop of lavender essential oil on my pillow is compulsory every night to help me sleep like a baby and there has been some other research which revealed lavender to be a potent anti-fungal, in particular, candida. THRUSH to you or I.

That study is here http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16178366

Any other herbs out there that deserve a big up?
